March 2019. Posted by Doug
I finally got out for a few days of bikepacking. I've been trying to get out here for a couple years now and this trip provided some training for the big event coming in April.
Abundant rain this season has put the desert in full bloom mode and even where the flowers were absent the ground was covered in green. I saw no one once I got off pavement and I took an extra day at the Gilbert Canyon - James Bay camp to paddle in the narrows area of Lake Mead. Ok, ya got me. I did see a couple boats go by but they were far enough away I couldn't see their captains. So technically, I saw no one.
And now, sit back, pop a cold one if you're so inclined and watch a probably too long video of a fat bike -slash- packraft adventure. If you finish your beer before the video ends, it's definitely too long.
A few additional shots of "out there"
