Self Propelled in San Francisco

July 2017 Posted by Doug.
A short get-away to cool off by the bay, eat seafood and ride rental bikes. Really a fun little shorty.

I've never really spent any time in or around San Francisco before. I highly recommend touring it via bicycle! We rented ours from Bay City Bikes, just a block or two from our hotel. We toured around some of the city then crossed the Golden Gate, rode around Sausalito to Tiburon and took a ferry back to pier 41 next to Fisherman's Wharf. From there we just rode the short distance to the bike shop and walked back to our hotel as everything was just a very short walking distance from the Wharf.

Besides walking the Fisherman's Wharf district, eating some really good seafood, and the hilarious street entertainment, the other fun thing we did was the San Francisco Dungeon tour. History made fun. No pictures inside and sorry, forgot to photograph the outside.

4th of July 2017. Paddle, Pedal, Ski!

July 2017 Posted by Doug.
After a big winter, summer skiing was still on, of course it's also mountain biking and rafting season. We decided to do it all over the 4th of July holidays. Mammoth was the obvious venue although just about anywhere in the California mountains would've work.

First up, rafting on Convict Lake.

Next, biking. Since they're still skiing the upper mountain, only the lower trails were open at the bike park.

And finally, 4th of July skiing! Yay! Followed by picnic in the village.

And of course no July 4th party could be complete without the Chihuahua races!

It was a great couple of days.
