Kayak Camping.
July 2018 Posted by Doug.
Kayaks, camping, swimming, what more could you ask for? Utica Lake near Bear Valley CA. was our chosen destination. I have been there before and it's a great kayaking lake with the bonus of no motors allowed. A little crowded at the put in ramp but once you paddled down lake it was pretty open. After a bit of exploring we found a beautiful site and set up camp. The smoke from the Ferguson fire near Yosemite fouled up the air unfortunately. Still, we had an afternoon swim and an evening paddle and in the morning another swim, then paddled whatever areas of the lake we hadn't paddled the day before. In all a fun little outing.

A Little Oregon Bikepacking
July 2018 Posted by Doug.
I finally got up to Oregon to taste a little of their bikepacking. I rode out of Sisters on the Oregon Timber Trail and eventually connected with the McKenzie River Trail. Then onto Eugene for a visit with my brother and mom. Beautiful riding!! I will have to come back to ride a bigger chunk of the O.T.T.
