April 2026
Over the past several years most of the posting on this blog has been about my bikepacking adventures. Well this one isn't.
Joannie hasn't retired from adventuring. Not hardly. It's just that her focus has been redirected to climbing! Yes you heard that right. My former identity and now she is the climber in the family!
Her primary focus has been getting strong in climbing gyms. She has a 'tick list' of gyms and has now climbed in 14 gyms spread over 4 states. She has some regular partners she climbs with locally and I still hit the gym with her on occasion. Her progression has been inspiring to watch, from hesitant 5.6 to red pointing 5.11 with 5.10 well within her wheelhouse. This darling turns 69 on her upcoming birthday!

It's not all indoors though. We have climbed outside together for 40 yrs and that won't change. My skills have markedly decreased while hers have skyrocketed due to her dedication at the gym.
